LinkedIn Toolkit
The LinkedIn toolkit lets agents read the connected memberβs profile and create posts (text, link, image, video, or document). Authentication is per-user OAuth.
Add it on the agent Toolkits tab. The first use prompts the user to connect LinkedIn if they have not already.
Prerequisitesβ
- A LinkedIn account the agent should post or read as
- LinkedIn OAuth configured for your organization (admin)
- An agent you can edit
- Users must complete the LinkedIn OAuth connect flow when prompted
Setupβ
- Confirm an admin has configured LinkedIn OAuth (Client ID, Client Secret, redirect URI, scopes).
- Open the agent β Toolkits β add LinkedIn.
- Save the agent. In Chat, connect LinkedIn when prompted.
@-mention LinkedIn tools for profile or posting tasks.
Available toolsβ
| Tool | Description |
|---|---|
| Get User Profile | Returns the connected LinkedIn member profile. |
| Create Post | Creates a post (text, link, image, video, or document) as the connected member. |
Use casesβ
- Draft and publish a status update from chat
- Confirm which LinkedIn identity is connected before posting
Tipsβ
- Posts publish as the connected LinkedIn user β confirm identity before creating a post.
- Media posts need reachable media according to LinkedInβs API requirements.
- Store OAuth via the connect flow β do not put tokens in the personality prompt.
Troubleshootingβ
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| OAuth / scope errors | Admin LinkedIn app scopes include profile and member social posting |
| Create post fails | Content type, media URL accessibility, and member posting permissions |
| Wrong profile returned | Reconnect LinkedIn with the intended account |
