OpenAI is retiring GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, GPT-4.1, and GPT-4.1 mini on January 14, 2027. If you use any of these models, complete your migration before that date to avoid an interruption.
OpenAI is retiring GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini, GPT-4.1, and GPT-4.1 mini in favor of newer models, which offer stronger capabilities and safety performance.
OpenAI is providing three months' notice so your team has time to evaluate replacements and prepare for the transition. Changing models takes planning and testing.
Retirement date
All four models have the same retirement date.
