Google Docs Toolkit

The Google Docs Toolkit is a workflow node. Its tools include Read Document, Search Docs, Insert Text, and Append Text, plus 8 more listed below. Connect a Google Docs account before you use any of these tools. Type @ in a field when the value should come from an earlier step.

Authentication

Every Google Docs tool needs a connected account before it can run. On the node, open Google Docs Account.

1. Choose Use my Google Docs account or Use team account.
2. If no personal account is connected, click Connect Google Docs Account and finish sign-in.
3. For a team account, choose Use team account and pick one from Team account. The list shows accounts already connected for the project.

Tools

Read Document

Reads document.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Format	No	Output format: 'text', 'json', or 'markdown'. Default is text. Type @ to select a variable.
Max Length	No	Maximum character limit for output. Default is null.

Search Docs

Searches docs.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Query	Yes	Search query for Google Drive. Type @ to select a variable.
Max Results	No	Maximum number of results to return. Default is 10.

Insert Text

Runs the insert text tool.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Text	Yes	Text to insert. Type @ to select a variable.
Index	Yes	Index position to insert text (1-based).

Append Text

Runs the append text tool.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Text	Yes	Text to append to the document. Type @ to select a variable.
Add Newline	No	Add newline before appended text if needed. Default is true.

Delete Range

Deletes range.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Start Index	Yes	Start index of range to delete (1-based, inclusive).
End Index	Yes	End index of range to delete (1-based, exclusive).

Apply Text Style

Runs the apply text style tool.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Start Index	Yes	Start index of text to style (1-based).
End Index	Yes	End index of text to style (1-based).
Bold	No	Apply bold formatting (true/false). Default is null.
Italic	No	Apply italic formatting (true/false). Default is null.
Underline	No	Apply underline formatting (true/false). Default is null.
Strikethrough	No	Apply strikethrough formatting (true/false). Default is null.
Font Size	No	Font size in points. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.
Font Family	No	Font family name. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.
Foreground Color	No	Text color (hex format). Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.
Background Color	No	Background color (hex format). Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.
Link URL	No	URL to make text a hyperlink. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.

Apply Paragraph Style

Runs the apply paragraph style tool.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Start Index	Yes	Start index of paragraph to style (1-based).
End Index	Yes	End index of paragraph to style (1-based).
Heading Level	No	Heading level (1-6). Default is null.
Alignment	No	Paragraph alignment: START, CENTER, END, JUSTIFIED. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.
Line Spacing	No	Line spacing multiplier. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.
Space Above	No	Space above paragraph in points. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.
Space Below	No	Space below paragraph in points. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.

Insert Table

Runs the insert table tool.

Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Index	Yes	Index position to insert table (1-based).
Rows	Yes	Number of rows for the table.
Columns	Yes	Number of columns for the table.

Insert Page Break

Runs the insert page break tool.

Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Index	Yes	Index position to insert page break (1-based).

Create Document

Creates document.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Title	Yes	Title for the new document. Type @ to select a variable.
Initial Content	No	Initial text content. Default is null. Type @ to select a variable.

Create From Template

Creates from template.

Field	Required	Description
Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Template ID	Yes	Document ID of the template to copy. Type @ to select a variable.
New Title	Yes	Title for the new document. Type @ to select a variable.
Replacements	No	Text replacements (key-value pairs). Default is null.

Delete Document

Deletes document.

Google Docs Account	Yes	Select your personal or team Google Docs account.
Document ID	Yes	Google Docs document ID. Type @ to select a variable.
Permanent	No	Whether to permanently delete (skip trash). Default is false.
